Romanian Orthodox Bishop Vincențiu: By taking part in the March for Life, we say “Yes” to love

“By participating in the March for Life, we do nothing other than say, with humility and faith: Yes to life! Yes to love! Yes to responsibility!” conveys His Grace Bishop Vincențiu, Bishop of Slobozia and Călărași.

The hierarch’s message precedes the event, which will take place on Saturday, March 28, in Revolution Square in Slobozia, Basilica.ro reports.

A deeper understanding of Christian love

“It is not a simple gathering, but a testimony that life is sacred, that it comes from God and returns to God,” says Bishop Vincențiu.

“This year’s theme, Solidarity for Both, calls us to a deeper understanding of Christian love. We cannot speak about the child without the mother, nor about the mother without the child. In every beginning of life, two hearts, two destinies, two callings meet and, above all, the work of God.”

His Grace then recalls the verse from the Book of the Prophet Jeremiah, where God tells him: “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”

“This word reveals to us that life does not begin by chance, but in God’s loving plan. Every child is desired, known, and loved by God even before seeing the light of day.”

We do not judge, but support

The Bishop of Slobozia and Călărași further emphasizes that “the Church cannot remain indifferent. She is called to be a mother to all: to comfort, to support, and to strengthen.”

“The solidarity we speak of is not just a beautiful word, but a concrete responsibility. Among the guiding principles, we, the living members of the Church, must support pregnant women in difficulty, encourage the idea of the Christian family, and protect the child, even when he or she does not yet have a voice.”

The hierarch also underlined that in times of crisis we are called to offer support in an authentically Christian spirit, without judging.

“The Fathers of the Church, in an evangelical spirit, teach us that nothing is greater than love, and this love is shown especially where there is weakness and need. To be in solidarity means not to judge, but to understand; not to condemn, but to lift up; not to turn our backs, but to extend a helping hand,” explained Bishop Vincențiu.

The unborn child, our neighbor

“Let us not forget that every unborn child is already our neighbor. We do not see or hear him or her, but God sees and loves them. True love is proven precisely when we defend the most vulnerable,” the Bishop of Slobozia and Călărași added.

The hierarch concludes his message with a prayer for peace and for all mothers and families.

“May the Mother of God, who carried the Son of God in her womb, protect all mothers and all children and teach us true solidarity — the kind that springs from sacrificial love,” His Grace prays.
