The “Holy Empress Helen” Counseling and Information Center was inaugurated on August 16. It offers free services of support and counseling for women in pregnancy crisis.
The event was organized respecting the sanitary prevention rules against the spread of the SARS-Cov-2 virus. The participants were the center workers and a few supporters of the fundraising campaign “Renew hope for both of them”, which financed the opening and operation of the center until the end of October 2020.
300 donors from Romania and abroad, who donated 21,000 Euros between June 8 and July 16. The campaign was organized by the Association for Pregnant Women and Family Support.
The most important donor was Romania’s Patriarch Daniel, who offered 6,000 Euros and an icon of the Holy Emperors Constantine and Helena.
The icon was haded over to Alexandra Nadane, Executive Director of the association, by Father Ciprian Ioniță, Patriarchal Counselor and coordinator of the Social-Philanthropic Sector of the Romanian Patriarchate. He also officiated the blessing service.
Alexandra Nadane, thanked all the volunteers and donors, especially to Patriarch Daniel, for his spiritual and material support, saying he is “a real father for children – both born and unborn”.
“I’d like to emphasize we do not thank him just formally, but from the bottom of our hearts and I also want to say that His Beatitude’s gift covers almost a third of the needed amount – he was indeed our most generous donor. It is the truth and we testify it.”
The event concluded with the launch of a children’s book by writer and illustrator Veronica Iani: Courage, the first book from a collection entitled “The 12 Keys” at the Life Learning Education publishing house. The collection is dedicated to character education through reading.
Women in pregnancy crisis will receive here free services: counselling, social work, career orientation, coaching, breastfeeding and child care training, as well as emergency material support.
Starting from August 25, women in pregnancy crisis will be able to ask for help at the toll-free phone number (+40) 0800 070 013.
The new centre is part of larger long-term program development to support women in pregnancy crisis following the model of the American pro-life movement. In the United States, the Christian civil society has built a network of over 2,800 crisis pregnancy centres, which is more than three times the number of abortion clinics in this country.
Between August 17 and September 17, the centre holds the event entitled The Open Door Days at the “Holy Empress Helen” Counseling and Information Center. Everybody can get a guided tour of the centre and discuss with the worker about their activity.
