Post-event press release: March for Life 2026 “Solidarity for Both”

Marsulpentruviata.ro, March 28, 2026 – On Saturday, March 28, 2026, more than 1,000 people participated in the Bucharest March for Life. They came despite the rain. They came with their children, with friends, some came alone — because they care about pregnant women in difficult situations and their children.

March for Life 2026 marked the 16th national edition in Romania and was organized in more than 100 localities. During the Month for Life 2026 (March 1–31), more than 2,000 pro-life events were held in Romania and several dozen more in the Republic of Moldova.

This year’s theme, “Solidarity for Both,” highlights the need for real support for both mother and child — before and after birth — as a shared responsibility of society.

Too often, what we call a “personal decision” is, in reality, a lack of support from others, hidden behind the mask of autonomy. But a woman left alone in the face of a difficult pregnancy is not free — she is abandoned, and so is her child. Freedom does not mean limiting, through pressure or inaction, a woman’s possibilities and her ability to choose what is good for herself and her child. Freedom without solidarity leaves a person alone. In no difficult situation do we leave someone alone — so why should we do so precisely when a woman is pregnant?

For this reason, the message of the 2026 March for Life is one of responsibility: the difficulty faced by a woman in a pregnancy crisis is also our responsibility. We do not say, “it’s your choice, deal with it on your own,” but rather, “we are here, by your side and by your child’s side.” And we strive to turn this into action: the March for Life is an awareness and information initiative, but its purpose is to offer personal support and to help create organizations and public policies that support pregnant women, especially when they face difficult situations.

Why should we redefine reality and place mother and child in opposition, when they share the closest human bond possible from the very beginning of life, for nine months? Because they are together, it is natural to build real support for both — so they can rejoice, dream about the future, and have a future together.

The fundamental question in a pregnancy crisis is not the reductionist “what do you choose?” but the realistic one: “Who is by your side when you choose?”

The answer depends on each of us. Every absence has consequences; every presence by someone’s side matters.

For this reason, the Marches for Life and the pro-life activities organized during the Month for Life 2026 brought together people of all ages — young people, families, volunteers — united by the conviction that real support makes the difference. It is another step on the long path toward building a society in which no one is left alone in difficult moments.

The March for Life remains a civic, non-political, and non-denominational initiative that promotes respect for women and children and encourages solutions for both in crisis situations. Its message is addressed to the whole of society and proposes collaboration, not antagonism.

We thank all participants, volunteers, and organizing teams, as well as those who choose, day by day, to offer real support to women and children.

We invite you and look forward to seeing you at the March for Life 2027, on Saturday, March 27, 2027.
